We need your support to buy a new house for the Syrian-Armenian refugee family in Kashatagh.

"We have no other place to go...

Hrach Gevorg is a 47-year-old Syrian-Armenian who moved to Armenia with his large family. His 5 children span between the ages of 7, 8, 10 and 12 years of age – the youngest two who are 7 are twins.

Hrach and his family were forced to flee their hometown back in 2016 due to the war in Syria, and initially settled in Yerevan. But thanks to Hrach’s experience in cultivating agricultural lands and breeding animals, he moved to Southern Kashatagh with his family.

"This is our homeland. My children want to stay here. If we have our home in Ishkhanadzor or in the nearby villages, we can take care of ourselves. The region is not very different from our home in Syria, and the land here is very rich and fertile. We are hard-working people, and we can make living for ourselves here,” expresses Hrach.

The family's only means of transportation was an old car, that broke down as they reached Ishkhanadzor. And despite Hrach’s experience and agile skills as a craftsman, he current is unemployed, and there are no job or opportunities for him to earn a living and to sustain his family. The mayor and the local community supported the family and provided some furniture for their tiny temporary apartment in a dormitory building near the village.

The Tufenkian Foundation needs your support to buy a new house in the village and help this family reside, grow and prosper in Kashatagh.
